Darjeeling is located in the northern premise of the Indian state of West Bengal. This is one of the best places to fall in love with the mountains.

There lies the spectacular Kangchenjunga mountains.
- KANGCHENJUNGA MOUNTAINS- Is the world’s third highest mountains spreading through a part of Nepal and a part of Sikkim in India. It rises to 28,169 feet entering a section of the Himalayan range of mountains. The merging section is termed as the Kangchenjunga Himal. This enormous beauty is however limited by the Tamurriver in the west to the Lhonak Chu and Jongsang La in the north followed by the Teesta River in the east.
The sunrise and sunset in the Kangchenjunga mountains offer a beautiful site worth seeing.
Another interesting fact is that when we are viewing the Kangchenjunga mountains, we are actually witnessing the second highest mountains of the Himalayas, which lies about 125 kilometre east-south-east of the Mount Everest.
Kangchenjunga Main is measured to be the highest mountains in India. It is summoned as ‘Five Treasures Of Snow’ due to it’s five peaks.
- DARJEELING HIMALAYAN RAILWAYS: This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The trains of Darjeeling Himalayan Railways are also, colloquially termed as the “toy train”. This railway system is 2feet in length and runs from New Jalpaiguri terminal and ends in Darjeeling terminal and vice versa.
This railway, in constitution with the Nilgiri Mountain Railway and Kalka- Shimla Railway are altogether termed as the Mountain Railways of India. This entire system is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
- The Tiger Hill is another fascinating location in Darjeeling.
GEOGRAPHY AND LIFE
Being a part of the Eastern Himalayan zoo geograpjic zone, Darjeeling is home several species of sal, oak, semi- evergreen, temperate and alpine forests. A wide variety of orchid is found in the dense evergreen forests of sal and oak, around the town.

The Lloyd’s Botanical Garden, which preserves the rare and common species of plant life.
There is one zoological garden in this region as well :
The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Garden, which preserves the endangered species of animal wildlife in that region and works towards their conversation program.
Also, the West Bengal Forest Department protects the wildlife wing.
Migrating species of ducks, plovers and gulls are also found in the Darjeeling region.
Darjeeling is ideally termed as the ‘Queen of Hills’. There are a huge number of domestic and foreign touristsvisting this place every year. Darjeeling is rather, one of the top most googled tourist places or travel destinations to be specific in India.
